The St. Bridgid’s Cross is still made in Ireland today and those made by Naomh Padraig are among the finest.  It is a tradition in Ireland to place a St. Bridgid Cross over the doorway of a home and is believed to bless and protect the "comings and the goings".  A sweet tradition to carry on and makes a lovely gift for newlyweds or a first home. The weaving by Naomh Padraig is well known in Ireland and it is our pleasure to showcase her work.
The 3 Arm St. Bridgid Cross is a variation in the traditional design and is unique.

Can I just say ...this book!

AN OLD WOMEN'S REFLECTIONS written by Peig Sayers is also known as the Queen of Gaelic storytellers.  Peig recounts the events of her life and others on her beloved Blasket Island, a must read before going out to the Blaskets. The Blasket Islands are three miles off Ireland's Dingle Peninsula. Until their evacuations just after the Second World War, the lives of the 150 or so Blasket Islanders had remained unchanged for centuries. A rich oral tradition of story telling, poetry and folktales kept alive the legends and history of the islands and has made their literature famous throughout the world.

Boats go out from about May till October from Dingle and Dunquin by reservation. On my list!
