Most people associate cats with Egypt, but most other ancient cultures had their own unique beliefs about felines as well. The Celts both feared cats as guardians of the underworld and thought they were a source of supernatural power that could be exploited. Cats’ hypnotic eyes made such an impression on ancient Celts that some even said they were portals to another world.
The tiny green dot at the end of the tail is a special touch , it reminds me of a phenomenon that is seen at the moment of sunset over the Pacific Ocean when a green flash can be seen with the naked eye... A magical sight to behold. Thank you to RJC for pointing that out to me many, many years ago.
